We've all been wounded.
Lived through seasons of uncertainty.
Had to face our frail humanity.
Endured sleepless nights.
Lived through loss.
Wondered if the night would ever end.
Wondered how we could even take another step.
Experienced a sense of helplessness.
Ecclesiastes 3 talks about this very thing ... there is a time for every purpose under heaven.
A time to be born. A time to die. A time to plant a time to harvest. A time weep and a time to laugh. A time to mourn and a time to dance ... a time for everything ...
The problem doesn’t lie in experiencing these things ...
The problem is when we allow these things, these circumstances, to take over our lives. And if we’re not careful we find ourselves in a pit of despair and defeat.
The enemy wants to see us cower in defeat. He wants us to believe that we are powerless. He wants us to believe that we are paralyzed. And while we may feel paralyzed, we are NOT paralyzed because the truth is, we are more than conquerors through Him.
I was reminded not long ago through my friend Karen Jantzi’s post on her Treasured Woman Ministry Facebook page that we aren't fighting flesh and blood but despotisms (kings), spirits in high places and principalities.
And in Karen’s same post she said, “I ask God, "What am I fighting here? Tell me, so I can refuse it and make it leave."
I've been fighting some pretty intense battles for quite some time now. So, I thought I'd give it a whirl and pray what Karen said she prays: “God what am I fighting here? Please show me.” In a short amount of time He showed me that I’d been believing the enemies lies.
And it needed to stop.
I immediately began to repent and one by one, replaced the lies with truth.
If you doubt God’s goodness or love for you. You’ve bought into a lie.
If you feel worthless. Lie.
Think you’re too weak to go on. Lie.
Think you lack purpose. Lie.
Think you’re a failure. Lie.
Think your situation is hopeless. Lie.
We MUST stop buying into the lies! We must resist them. The moment a thought comes to our mind that does not line up with truth (2 Corinthians 10:5 calls that "imaginations or arguments,") we must capture the thought and immediately speak TRUTH to it.
Remember, our minds can not distinguish between a lie and the truth. Our mind will believe whatever we tell it. And, what we believe determines how we respond and act.
Colossians 2:15 tells us that Satan and his emissaries were publicly humiliated by Christ’s victory on the cross. WE are NOT defeated. Satan is defeated. Don't believe otherwise! Because of Christ's victory over death on the cross, we have an inheritance! Our inheritance is hope, love, peace, truth, prosperity, abundance, freedom, grace, mercy, POWER, POWER and more POWER. Power to defeat the enemy! Power to walk in freedom. Power to speak truth into our lives, overcoming the limited power of the enemy!
What are you facing today? Are you in a battle? Ask God to show you exactly what you're up against. For me, it was believing the lies of the enemy. What is it for you? You have the POWER to defeat it, It's your inheritance!!
